Co-Managed IT

You're good at your job. You shouldn't have to be good at everything.

We run the security, monitoring, and patching layer behind your internal IT person. When something falls outside their experience, they call us. They stay the primary. They're just not alone anymore.

Athencia Backstop is built for firms with internal IT who need a senior resource behind them, a security stack they couldn't build alone, and an escalation call that speaks their language.

Sound familiar?

  • You're the escalation point for everything, including the things you've never seen before.
  • The security stack you've cobbled together works until it doesn't.
  • You know what your gaps are. You just don't have the budget or the bandwidth to close all of them alone.
  • When something goes sideways at 11pm, you're figuring it out by yourself.

What we run behind you

Three things. A security layer, a monitoring layer, and a patching layer. All running on the same stack we use for our fully managed clients. You get access to the same tools, the same visibility, and the same escalation path — without handing over the keys.

Your IT person stays in control of day-to-day operations. We run the infrastructure behind them that makes those operations defensible.

The security layer

Huntress EDR, ITDR, and Security Awareness Training. Human threat hunters watching your endpoints around the clock. Not just Defender. Defender plus a 24/7 SOC that catches what Defender misses and tells you exactly what they found and what they did about it.

The monitoring and management layer

Level RMM gives your IT person full visibility and remote management capability for their environment. We retain oversight. They get the tools. Patch compliance reporting runs automatically. You always know where you stand.

The DNS filtering layer

ScoutDNS with Scout360 roaming agents. Works wherever your users are, not just when they're on the network. Fully integrates with Active Directory DNS. Blocks the threats that never reach the endpoint because they never make it past DNS.

The stack

Enterprise-grade tools. Running behind your team.

What having Athencia behind you actually means

Your IT person gets something concrete to show their leadership. Clean patch reports. Security posture documentation. Monthly environment summaries. The receipts that prove the environment is being run well. That matters when budget conversations happen.

They also get a peer to call. Not a helpdesk. Not a ticket queue. Decades of Microsoft infrastructure experience, from five-person firms to environments at global scale. When they hit something they've never seen before, they call us. We've seen it.

The escalation call

When something falls outside your IT person's experience, they call us directly. We scope it, handle it, and document it. No ticket queue. No waiting for tier-one to escalate. A direct line to a senior resource who knows their environment because we're already running in it.

The monthly summary

Every month, your IT person gets a summary of what Huntress flagged and cleared, patch compliance status, DNS threats blocked, and any open items. Something concrete to put in front of leadership that shows the environment is being actively managed — not just monitored until something breaks.

How Backstop is priced

The core software stack is priced per seat. The retainer tier is based on your seat count and includes a block of escalation hours each month. Overage is billed at $150/hr.

Everything is transparent. You see exactly what you're paying for the software and what you're paying for access to the team. No bundled black box.

Common questions

Does my IT person lose control of the environment?

No. They stay the primary. We run specific layers — security, monitoring, patching — behind them. They retain full control of day-to-day operations and user support. We don't replace them. We make them harder to replace.

What happens when we call for escalation?

You get a direct line to a senior resource who already knows your environment. Not a helpdesk. Not tier-one. Someone who can actually help. We scope the issue, handle it, and document it. If it's in scope for your included hours, it's covered. If it runs over, we tell you before we bill.

Do we need to already have these tools in place?

No. We deploy and configure the core stack as part of onboarding. If you're already running some of these tools, we work with what's in place and fill the gaps.

What's the difference between Backstop and Athencia One Complete?

Athencia One Complete is full management for firms with no dedicated IT. We own everything. Backstop is co-managed for firms that already have internal IT. Your IT person stays in control. We run the layers behind them. Different model, same underlying stack, same standards.

Can we add compliance readiness on top of Backstop?

Yes. Athencia Comply works on top of any Athencia service. Most Backstop clients find that having a well-documented, well-managed environment makes the compliance conversation significantly faster. See how Comply works →

What did you have to figure out alone last month?

That's the conversation we start with. What fell outside your experience, how long it took to resolve, and what would have happened if you couldn't. If the answer makes you uncomfortable, that's what Backstop is for.
