Why Athencia exists
Most IT relationships are a mystery. Something breaks, you call someone, they fix it. In between, you have no idea whether things are fine or quietly drifting toward trouble. Five dashboards, three vendors, and still no straight answer to one plain question: is our IT okay?
The same problem kept showing up everywhere. IT that demanded constant attention from people who had better things to do. Reactive fixes. Configuration drift. Vendors who only appeared when something broke. Athencia was built to end that. One firm that runs your technology, owns the outcome, and gives you a clear answer whenever you want one.
Where the standard comes from
Athencia is built on decades of running systems that were never allowed to fail, the kind where getting it wrong makes the news. A migration is the hardest version of that: replacing an organization's systems while it keeps running full speed. We handle migrations with no room for error. It's like changing all four tires on a car doing 60 down the freeway, and the driver never slows down. That is the standard behind every engagement, and we bring it to running your IT on an ordinary Tuesday.
Athencia was founded by Jeremy Phillips, who spent thirty years running enterprise infrastructure at a scale most IT shops never touch. Operations in the millions of mailboxes. Post-merger migrations up to the Fortune 5. He built the firm so smaller organizations could have the discipline the enterprise takes for granted. He wrote The SMB IT Playbook out of the same conviction. Athencia is built to outlast any one person in any one seat.

Athencia isn't backed by private equity. There's no growth-at-all-costs push, no metrics to satisfy an investor report, no exit to chase. This is a firm built to run well for a long time, which means doing right by clients over doing right by a spreadsheet. Athencia will never be sold.
Built on Microsoft 365
We standardize on Microsoft 365 because it's what most of the organizations we serve already run, and because decades of Microsoft infrastructure experience mean we know it deeply. One platform, one architecture, maintained with discipline and secured by design. Not a patchwork of disconnected tools nobody fully understands.
A note on the name
Athencia is named for Athena, the goddess of wisdom and strategy. Also for the founder's dog. Both fit.
